Scenes of Summer 2018

8/15/2018

Quick as a darting dragonfly, summer flits past us. Those leisurely days we fantasize about all winter long soon fill up with visitors, summertime projects, and a mad, whirling mix of busy-ness and play. Before we know it, it's the middle of August, and we're trying to cram even more into what's left of the season.

Before rushing off to another activity, though, let's just pause to savor some scenes from this lovely time of year. Sunny fields and shady forests, festivals and fairs, recreation and relaxation, blossoms and berries, creatures great and small -- all the things that make summer special.

I love these!! Thank you for posting. You have such a great eye --my favorite is the patriotic display, because it captures both stillness and movement, which is what summer's all about. Also: crumbling barn and the swing. (We have the obligatory squirrel picture here, usually attacking someone.)

Thank you, Laura! That crumbling barn shot is from the trip home after meeting you and Chris in Pentwater. I have many obligatory squirrel pictures, too, but none of attack squirrels!

Love your forest shots! Trees always take me right back to Michigan. Thank-you.

I'm not ready to let summer slip away just yet but I'll go along with any excuse to see your pictures. I pick a new favorite every time I scroll through these. At the moment it's the first and last ones. They're all about summer love.

They are! And is there anything more summer-y than a sunflower?

These pictures are so beautiful, Nancy. You have captured the essence of summer. I love the butterfly on the coneflower!

We've had so many butterflies, bumblebees, beetles, and hummingbirds on those coneflowers this year. More than ever before.

I could feel, smell, hear and taste it all. What a wonderful visual story. Your eye gets better all the time with that camera.

Hi Nan, these photos are ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!
I've seen similar scenes in my lifetime....and they never get old! Thank you for capturing the essence of what I hold as dear and inspiring....family, water, living creatures wild and domesticated, sky, earth, flowers, trees, through you photography, you get my drift :o) Thank you, thank you!

Nan, stunning photography and lovely words. I love sunstruck, the swing, the ice cream, the dilapidated barn, and the mood in the one of your family on the porch. Thanks for sharing your many talents.
